How a Regional Children's Hospital Went From 279 to 133K Organic Clicks
A full technical rebuild, a new content engine, and a backlink strategy took a stagnant hospital site from 279 to 133K organic clicks in 8 months.
Table of contents
KODL is the official website of the Kyiv Regional Children's Hospital, an important public resource for parents looking for information on departments, services, and care. Despite its importance, the site was nearly invisible in search: in the eight months before optimization it earned just 279 clicks and 7K impressions, with an average position of 10.2 and a declining CTR of 3.1%.
From 2023 through April 2024, the site was in complete stagnation — no growth in traffic or impressions, an almost empty backlink profile, and no content engine. UAWC rebuilt the site's technical foundation, content, and domain authority from the ground up.
Result: organic clicks grew from 279 to 133K, impressions grew from 7K to 3.7M, and the site reached the top 3 for 349 target keywords.
Problem
A hospital nobody could find.
The site was technically weak and effectively invisible. Traffic had stayed at zero for over a year, and the backlink profile barely existed — a Domain Rating of 1, just 21 low-quality backlinks, and 14 referring domains. There was no blog, no structured content, and crawling and indexing issues meant even existing pages couldn't perform.
For a public healthcare resource, that's a serious problem: parents searching for a department, an appointment, or health guidance simply weren't reaching the official source.
Key issues:
- Critical crawling and indexing issues that limited what Google could see.
- Thin, unoptimized pages with weak titles, meta descriptions, and H1s.
- No content layer (blog / expert authors) to build topical authority and E-E-A-T.
- An almost empty, low-quality backlink profile (DR 1).
Setup
An authoritative institution with zero organic momentum. Strong real-world authority that wasn't reflected online at all. An empty content engine and a backlink profile far below what a hospital of this scale should have.
Strategy
Build the foundation first, then the authority.
Since the site was effectively starting from zero, we sequenced the work from technical optimization to content and off-site authority building.
1. Technical SEO Audit
We ran a comprehensive audit and resolved critical crawling and indexing issues so Google could properly access and rank the site.
2. On-Page Optimization of Key Pages
We optimized the most important department and service pages around what families actually search for.
3. Metadata Improvements
We rewrote titles, meta descriptions, and H1 tags to improve relevance and click-through rate.
4. Structured Data
We implemented structured data to improve how the hospital's pages appear in search results.
5. Backlink Strategy on High-DA Donors
We analyzed the backlink profile and built a placement strategy on high-Domain-Authority, high-traffic sites to improve rankings.
6. Blog and Author Section
We built a blog with dedicated author pages and launched a publishing strategy for SEO-optimized, expert-written articles — a content engine the site never had before.
Results
From an invisible resource to one of the highest-ranking public sources.
Technical fixes reopened the site to Google; content and links then reinforced each other, driving impressive, sustained growth.
